Don't waste your money on others. Go with the Intel Core i7. For the money, this is great! Fast and smooth running. Would've been nice to hav 5th gen, but you can't get better for the money.

have been using it pretty much non stop for the last 6 months. 12+ hours a day everyday. It has not over heated or caused any crashes. I am happy especially with the amount of use I use my computer. It is on pretty much from the time I get up till I go to bed. (even when I am not at it).Update: I have been using it now for over a year and no issues. Still running it the same too.

My downstairs PC was a very old 2.6Ghz 4GB Core2 Duo circa 2008 that I upgraded piecemeal at times (Win7, more drives, etc). I realized it's performance was holding me back and I had done the frugal get your value out of an older device thing long enough. I looked at all the current options, including Skylake and X99 40 lane motherboard / chip combos. I finally settled on this, MSI extreme 7, Samsung EVO 850 Pro SSD, 16gig Gskill RAM and Noctua CPU fan
Noctua Premium Quality Quiet CPU Cooler for Intel LGA 2011,1156,1155,1150 and AMD AM2/AM2+/AM3/3+,FM1/2 Sockets NH-U9S
. Boy am I glad I did! It's just NIGHT and DAY faster than my old system. Nothing crashes anymore, I have simply thrown a battleship's worth of resources at the problem and hey IT WORKS. Surfing, telecommuting no longer has any lag. The thing resumes from sleep in less than 2 seconds.P.S. it's running just fine with an older Seasonic 550 watt power supply. I am using a modest, older AMD video card (6670) as gaming is not my focus. My CPU temperature hovers at 50 degrees Celsius (122 degrees Fahrenheit) when just surfing but multiple windows open. Surfing performance would probably get even better with a GTX 950 Strix videocard which I may purchase in near future.

This processor is a beast. I needed a new server setup for the streaming, syncing, live security camera capture, transcoding, software RAID parity calculation, and a bunch of other stuff I recently decided to add. My old dual core would just outright stall and require a hard reboot to come back up. With this processor, I don't think I've ever seen it go above 70% utilization. It's quick, efficient, and if I need to downclock a bit for more efficiency or cooling I can due to the unlocked multiplier.I can only imagine what this would do in a gaming or editing build. It's probably massively overpowered for most people (even most gamers would be hard pressed to need more than an i5 k series chip), but for those that will benefit from it... get it!
