Not much to say, it's a beast. Wish I could have got the six core, but just can't justify the price difference, especially since I do my heavy lifting in the GPU.

Easy installation once you get over the fact the document is picture based with no written instructions. Use it along with your motherboard's instructions and make sure the steps match. That stupid plastic cover on the Mobo popped out when it wasn't supposed to. IT didn't break anything so all is good. Very nice processor. If you plan on overclocking, don't settle for the fan/heat sink that comes with it.

It's very fast and a great value. Hard to say much more about it than that.My one complaint is that it runs VERY HOT with the stock fan/heat sink installed. Even without overclocking, the stock cooler couldn't keep it under 90-95C at full load, which is totally unacceptable. I reseated it and cleaned/reapplied thermal compound multiple times just to make sure it wasn't my mistake. A gigantic third party heat sink (Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO) brought the temperature down to about 65C, which seems to be about as good as it gets for this processor without liquid cooling. It's not a huge additional expense, but it makes me wonder why they include the stock cooler at all. It's just extra stuff to throw away, and I bet it could have been a few bucks cheaper without it.

Unless you will be rendering videos very actively, the i7 name is there just so you feel good about yourself, for 5 times the price of a Pentium G3258. I have achieved exactly the same FPS in games like Crysis, Dota, LoL, Skyrim, Borderlands 2, the Forest with an EVGA GTX 970 FTW edition. G3258 does not bottleneck games or cause stuttering as long as you stick around the 1440p and below. I have received the same scores for Unigine Heaven benchmark at ultra settings 1080p too.
Also it gets very hot for even with the best air cooling. So now you have to add even more money to throw in a solid liquid cooling solution, which will be about twice as much as a G3258 itself.
I spoke of this CPU negatively, but the specific CPU I've had run up to 5.0 ghz stably, just too hot. So this thing is still a beast. Fortunately, the extra performance is useless for anyone who wants to game. Please do yourself a favor and get an okay air fan and a Pentium G3258. Not even an i5 is worth it unless you certainly have to play the very few games that are out there that just require at least quad cores.
If you need to upgrade in a year or two, you only have to give up a 50-60 dollar piece, because g3258 is that cheap.

The performance on stock is phenomenal! I am very disappointed with my chip as I couldn't overclock hardly at all. It required too much voltage way too early. It couldn't even handle a 200 MHz boost. I expect better when I purchase a K version product.
