Nice processor, best LGA 1150 available at the time.
Thermal conductance between die and lid is poor. Intel does not appear to use a good thermal compound inside the unit and as such, you will never achieve a good thermal solution unless you void the heck out of your warranty by delidding the processor and replacing the conductance material.

Love it so far, no issues yet other than occasionally it only seems to run off of one core

I would have given this product 5 stars, but I am disappointed with the way that it's advertised. The headline says up to 4.40 GHz , but what does that really mean? I have to assume that means you can overclock it to 4.40 GHz safely, but running stock in my PC, it runs at only 4.00 GHz. It should have read more like 4.00 GHz, OC to 4.40 GHz . I learned my lesson this time, fool me once, shame on you. I would ask that the product be more accurately portrayed, but otherwise, the product works amazingly well. I upgraded from a 3.2 GHz Quad Core Intel Chip, and the performance increase is very noticeable. Everything on my PC now happens when I click without a big lag time like before.

Nice chip. Only thing I changed was the stock heatsink is a joke. If you invest money into this chip, pay for a good after market heatsink. Especially if you over clock it.

I have it dedicated to continuous number crunching. It runs a little too hot for my taste and needs to be cooled about 20 degrees in my opinion. But it seems to me to be a fine piece of machinery for the purpose to which I have put it. Worth a serious look in my estimation.

I was surprised that it had a small fan for a core i7 processor but i've been using it for some weeks now and it looks like everything's working ok, also it came with thermal paste on the cpu which is a plus. I currently run Need For Speed Hot Pursuit on it with all settings high and I'm using only my on board graphics card and it plays beautifully no lag no stuttering with game play whatsoever,... It doesn't feel like it's living up to it's name though when i run Flight Simulator X, (if you don't now about Flight Simulator X it's a flight simulator, but it's a really good game that can test your pc limits),... Some areas of the world with a lot of scenery still has low fps but keep in mind i still don't have a graphics card besides the on board one, so maybe that's why! I'm not very technical about computers but in a nutshell I believe it deserves 4 stars because it is far better than anything i've ever had but not as good as i thought it would be! For $300 USD

Good processor but it does run VERY HOT. With stock cooler I was running 40c idle and 90-100+ under full load. I now have it with a Noctua NH-U9B and she runs 30+/- idle and 70-80 under full load. So just a heads up on the hotness of this i7.

Overall, this is a great product. My only complaint is that it is highly recommended you purchase an after market cooler. If you are casually browsing the web, the stock cooler should be fine. However, when gaming, the CPU runs at about 90 degrees C, even when using an after market thermal compound.
