It's hard to gauge a processor. For the most part, they tend to all work the same and provide similar speeds. Unless you're an enthusiast trying to eke out every meager megahertz you can, this is a perfectly fine processor for a gamer. In CPU-intensive MMO's like World of Warcraft I instantly jumped from 30 fps in the world to a straight 60 (and usually higher if I turn off v-sync). Computer boots super fast (mostly due to the SSD) and programs are responsive. Multi-threaded applications, including ones I design, work well. Overall a fine, stable chip.

Everything is great but please be careful!!!!!!! In the Compare Similar Items menu, it says this is an LGA 1155 socket but it's actually an LGA 1150. 1150 is what it says in the product description.

An outstanding chip. I purchased this specifically to go in an Asus Z97M-Plus mobo. I didn't use the stock heat sink included, because I'm using a Cooler Master Seidon 240M liquid cooler. It is a fully overclockable CPU, although I haven't yet played with that feature.

This processor is amazing. I read some reviews on it that said it runs very hot which gave me some concern; however, with the stock fan, I'm doing light work like browsing the web and hovering around 27C. Bioshock Infinite gave me a steady 75C on Ultra mode, and Star Citizen runs about 68C. I did order some Arctic Silver 5 and put some on my the cover of the processor (no deliding needed) before installing the fan, so that might be helping. Considering the price of this CPU, 10 more bucks seems well worth it.

I'm extremely happy with this purchase and would highly recommend it. I've been playing Star Citizen in the highest graphics mode, hooked up to an Oculus Rift at 1900res, and this processor has been handling it extremely well. Great buy for a gamer.
