This processor will run hotter than the older Core processors. You should also check your BIOS voltages, most OC websites recommend 1.2V for 4.4GHz to see about 6°C tem. drop without loss. This Processor will test 25°C bellow Maximum operating reported by Intel Processor Diagnostic Tool 64-bit, running at 86°C using Corsair Link to verify processor temperature. So I am assuming the maximum specified temperature, before forced shutdown, is at or about 110°C (I am a sensor error of +/-5°C). There are also articles Benchmarking the i7 4790K with all fans set to low and the processor runs at a constant 100°C with only none, or negligible loss. meaning, to burn this processor you would have to do something wrong, or it has to be defective in the first place. It was tested at factory, so defects should be minimal, only thing you have to worry about is shipping competency of the warehouse. Mine was shipped... OK, it works for now... though I can't get used to the high temperatures. I am using a H80i Corsair ... still seeing 80's on stress tests. Gaming, with good GPU, you won't see above 70's with stock cooler, with a 560 Ti I am seeing 77°C running Mass Effect 3, FireFall (72), Tom Clacy's Splinter Cell Black Ops(75°C)... it really depends on how efficiently they made their engines and how dependent they are on the processor, most FPS games are focused on using the monkey-house GPU rather than the brain-trust CPU.The only drawback is the heat. It will provide you with seamless performance across video compiling to HD gaming, and Autodesk/Solid Works project renderings. It can't be slowed down, let alone stopped. Just invest in cooling to improve product life. Lower temp = longer life. Please Do NOT try to build a system with this in the smaller cases, this is a high performance processor, not suited for internet browsing machines. This is not your casual PC user processor, though if you can spare the dough, why not? Also don't be thrifty on the motherboard, it will gimp your performance. I recommend at least 16GB of DDR3 1600 to complement the processing power. For the OC users, I don't see the need, but if you want to go nuts, be my guest. Just remember it runs hot with factory settings. It OC its self to 4.4GHz at about 1.36V.Used: 38 hours continuously, one interruption for 3 hours to install H80i liquid cooler, ran 12 more hours as of review post time.

This processor is fast and although its a k version don't expect to overclock it to the moon from what i am seeing there are a few people getting stable 4.8 but most folks are hitting the wall at 4.7. I bought 2 both were L4 batch to build one for me and one for the wife. She won the silicone lottery her chip is stable at low vcore which means it would probably overclock pretty well mine not so much right now both are at stock clocks and honestly fast enough for me.

Wow, a product that works as intended, imagine that. I am not into overclocking but from what I have gathered, the 4770k is a better choice for overclockers. Installed easily and works fine.

As described and arrived quickly. For other parts to arrive, therefore cannot give a strong rating. But brand-new and excited to you.

Intel finally fixed the thermal interface so temps are cooler than the 4770k and 4670k. Also the stock clock of 4.0 GHz is awesome. If you already have a 4770k its not worth upgrading but if you are building a new system this is the way to go.

Normally, I'd give a product like this either 5 stars or 1 star. Basically, you'd think it either works or it doesn't. I'm giving this 4 stars because the chip, which is the primary thing you're buying, is great. However, the fan/heat-sink provided is terrible. It works, but is also incredibly loud. It sounds like you have a kettle on the stove at all times. If you're looking for a fast chip, I highly recommend this processor, but you should purchase an aftermarket heat-sink to go with it.

The 4790k fixes everything wrong with 4770k for the same price as it's predecessor. You will experience no slowdowns and your computer will fly through literally anything you throw at it. while overclocked, this CPU can beat out intel's lower-end 6 core, socket 2011, Enthusiast CPU's at stock. This processor is also just fun to play with, being a great overclocker due to it's redesigned power management and redisigned TIM. If you have a 4770k, it might not be enough to jump the gun, but if you're looking for an upgrade, this is the one.Edit: Due to the Meltdown fix, CPU speed and I/O speeds have been reduced, (the latter far more than the former). Still, this is not acceptable, and as such I have knocked a star of the review.

Aw.. the logo sticker enclosed is a very dull standard intel type sticker. I was hoping for a cool design with that Devils Canyon logo on it. Im docking a star for that!!It also has the standard stock cooler, so don't expect too much over clocking from that.Other than that... its a straight swap. Windows will pickup the new CPU but that's not going to cause driver problems at all.I gave up waiting for Amazon to ship my pre-order and got mine from Newegg overnight.... Actually ended up being slightly cheaper than Amazon....

I ordered one day shipping and it still hasn't been shipped yet. There is an issue with ordering these. So don't expect to have it by the end of the week. I would suggest going to a Frys or Tiger Direct store and just picking it up. I went to Frys and they had 5 available. I am rating this down one star due to Amazon and the shipper failing to get my product to me on time.
The product itself is amazing and worth everything penny. So def go pick it up. Its super fast and amazing.
