great processor.when using this processor, i did have to go into the bios and disable the turbo boost to cap the cpu clock at 4.0 GHz to prevent a system overheat in the event of heavy cpu utilization.that useful note will hopefully prevent an overheat / shutdown for someone if they are running the cpu for simulation or mining.you can also consider using OCCT to monitor the temperatures when using the cpu to diagnose temperatures and clock frequencies.well worth it.

Its a beast. I briefly overclocked it to 5.1ghz on water cooling but didn't even bother stress testing it because I don't see the need to overclock it. At box clock rates this processor does just fine for everything i've thrown at it.

Sold my 4770k and bought this one. Glad I did it runs cooler and I only cost about $35 extra from what I sold my old cpu for. I have a corsair h80 and my 4770k hit 91degrees at only 4ghz. This 4970k cpu at 4.4ghz tops out at 72 degrees with the same h80 cooler. (All above degrees are Celsius)If you wondering if this will work in a z87 motherboard....YES it will on higher end boards and some middle of the road boards.I have a MSI z87 g45 gaming mb with bios 1.8 and it runs perfect. So go ahead and take the plunge, you won't regret it.
