Sooo good.. I couldn't wait to get this CPU in my new rig. Installation on an ASUS Maximus VII Hero couldn't have been easier. I had no issues at all with installation and it's thoroughly enjoying the exceptional cooling it's receiving from it's Corsair Hydro H100i extreme. I haven't been able to get this little guy to pass 40 degrees, even while gaming. I picked this up for my new rig in order to future proof the system. I did this with my last rig and it lasted me 8 years, still running games from the last 2 years on max settings. I'm so glad I went with this CPU as it's fulfilling all my needs without even approaching OC. Someday I'm sure some games with be released that will push it to the limit, but for now I can sit back and enjoy the delicious power without having to bat an eyelash at the CPU temps. Will definitely be picking up another one of these when I build my husband's rig next month!

Best processor for gaming. Overclocks like a champ with little effort.

I got the 4790K for my new build, replacing a 4.5 year old i5-2500K. This is a pretty amazing processor; most likely overkill for a lot of users, but perfect for people who want the best. For me, in day to day tasks, I can't really tell a huge difference between my old i5 and this. They're both rocket-fast paired with a SSD. The difference shows, however, in a gaming environment. The only game I use is Flight Simulator X, which is a CPU-intensive title as compared to other games that rely more on GPU. For Flight Sim, you get the fastest CPU you can afford if you want the best performance, and you can even skimp a bit on your video card. Although I set a fixed frame rate in Flight Sim, with it at unlimited I get in the 80s at ultra high (tweaked) settings, compared to the 60s with the i5. Mind you this is with a less powerful video card - a GT740 SC 4GB DDR5 as opposed to a GTX650Ti. The comparison isn't apples to apples, and would likely be a bit higher with the same card. Closing words - if you are a gamer, and you want fast, get this. If you do other things that demand huge processing power, get this. If you're a home office user, you're overspending if you get this. Get a Core i5 or even a Core i3 and you'll still be zipping along, but for a lot less cash.

HO-LY S***! This thing is fast.I used this cpu for my elite gaming computer build. On paper this thing is supposed to give up to 4.1GHz out of the box, mine gave me exactly 4.0GHz. I'm not complaining, but lets be real, if 80-90% of your customers get 4.0GHz or less out of the box, just say that instead of giving me unrealistic expectations.I bought a nice cpu cooler(evo 212) and overclocked this bitch to 4.4GHz. It took me about 5 minutes and it was surprisingly easy to do. The temps are easily managed(28c idle maybe upper 30's when in full boom ) and gaming is a breeze. I can game hard for hours and watch HD vids at the same time and my cpu won't go past 30% capacity. This is easily the best processor I have ever owned.I would suggest one thing to people who are going to buy this. The stock cooler is a cheap piece of s***. If you are willing to spend ~$340 for this thing, its worth investing in a nice cooler. They aren't expensive and they quite noticeably improve performance and temps.I just became an Intel-processor customer for life.

Popped right into my motherboard without any hassle. Opted out of using the provided fan, and instead using the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO. After researching through many many processors, this one seemed like the best bang for the buck for a higher-end gaming rig, and it's doing just the trick.

Great processor, but came used. The processor is great value for money. But it would be remiss of me not to mention that the new unit I paid for from Amazon came used. The first warning sign was that the CPU was placed upside down within its packaging. Then, upon opening the retail box (Factory Seal was already broken), I noticed the CPU had thermal paste on it already and the Fan’s thermal paste was disturbed. Clearly the unit was used before. However, Amazon’s customer service was great. They offered to replace the unit.Overall great product, disappointing experience, but good customer service.

Cannot complain at all. It arrived quickly from Amazon.com. The box was opened (seal torn) and slightly crushed but that is not Intel's fault. I think it happened during shipping and it was not tampered with. If I had it to do over again I probably would have bought the i5 and saved a few bucks. The 1080P video is smooth but I feel like I never really max out this CPU. I am using it for my Blue Iris setup and barely hit 7% CPU with 5 cameras. Oh well, at least I can say I have the latest and greatest, for now.

Got it up to 5.1GHz pretty stable but the voltage is too high so had to turn her down but the chip is capable!!!!!

Very good! And also it comes with a fan. But actually you can just throw that weak one. If you only use that one, than, congratulations, you can heat your steak on your processor!

This processor is super fast!!! I had an AMD FX-8350 (plus a GTX 970) and was happy with this but I definitely did not know what I was missing. All my games are running at 2560x1080 at 60fps with almost all graphics settings maxed. Others (like Crysis 1, 2 and 3, and Wolfenstein) need only a little less resolution (2240x945) to reach 60fps. I am very happy with the purchase.

Great processor. We used it to upgrade my son's gaming computer that was built a year and a half ago. The only challenge was updating the bios on the motherboard to recognize the processor. The first way did not work so I updated the bios using the other method and it worked just fine. My son is now able to play all games at the maximum settings with the highest frames per second.
