It's powerful, there's no doubting that, but overclockability is not the best, temps are a bit high under load (even with a Corsair h100i and unrestricted airflow). Might just be this particular batch though, but it's still enough to handle pretty much everything at stock speeds. Packaging is top notch, and pretty quick, considering it's from US to Hong Kong, taking roughly a week and a bit. Would recommend any day of the week.

Runs very cool, automatically clocked at 4.0 on my PC, I did replace the stock fan with a much bigger Cooler Master, but have had no issues and could OC to 4.5 quite easily if I needed too.

I upgraded to this from an AMD FX8320 and the difference in speed is very noticeable. Most applications run quicker and smoother than with my previous CPU. It is about twice the price of the AMD card so improvement is expected. Games run much smoother well.My only complaint is the chip runs hot under load. I'm using CM Hyper 212 on it and it runs close to 80C under moderate load. I've been getting thermal shutdowns when it gets a little hotter. I've reinstalled the Hyper 212 twice now thinking maybe the contacts weren't good between the CPU and the heatsink, and the temps haven't changed. This is going to force me to buy a liquid cooling solution.

If you are the sort of guy who wants to invest in over $200 in Z-motherboards and cooling just to overclock a $240 4690K, I suggest you buy this instead to pair it with a budget mobo for around the same price, run it at the stock 4GHz and call it a day.For instance a very CPU-dependent and heavily multithreaded game like Battlefield 4, the hyperthreading in the 4790K gives a ~20% boost over non-HT Haswell parts at the same frequency, which is much more than whatever ~300MHz or so extra realistically from you can get by overclocking a 4690K. Besides, everybody except a small niche will be entirely satisfied by the features a budget H81 mobo already provides.

I have been enjoying using this processor for the past month now and do not regret the purchase at all.

Works as advertised, I bought it and used my h100i. I have it overclocked at 4.6 GHz idles at 26C-28C. Under max load I hold temp around 68C. Wonderful lighting fast chip!

A wonderful processor. It's lightning fast, has a bit of overclocking headroom (not like you'd need to with the speeds it offers out of the box!). The cooler that comes with it is garbage, but that's to be expected. it runs very cool, and is well worth the money. However, if you believe Intel's claims of getting it to 5GHz on air, shed those hopes immediately. It becomes way too power hungry and way too hot before you can get there. It might be possible for that one person who gets lucky and gets the perfect product, but for normal use, you won't get that. All in all though, a very good buy, and I'd highly recommend it.

This processor is fast and although its a k version don't expect to overclock it to the moon from what i am seeing there are a few people getting stable 4.8 but most folks are hitting the wall at 4.7. I bought 2 both were L4 batch to build one for me and one for the wife. She won the silicone lottery her chip is stable at low vcore which means it would probably overclock pretty well mine not so much right now both are at stock clocks and honestly fast enough for me.

To my knowledge this is the best quad core you can buy to date. Great value for your money

Great CPU! I've overclocked it to 4.7 at 1.325v. I don't doubt I can get better, and with less power, with more tinkering. Everything in Windows snaps open without hesitation and games run smooth as butter.

It's a high performance desktop-grade processor, and obviously it's from Intel, it's not like there's a competition anywayIt's a great CPU if you're like me, aiming to get a reliable and relatively high performance out of it.If you're too much into overclocking stuff, it's not that fun since there's a small thermal headroom, so getting a mere 600mhz boost on air cooling looks kind of impossible. On stock clocks it's cool and my cpu fan never maxes out.
