Oh my god, so fastOverclocked it up to a super stable 4.9GHz, and it just cruises through everything. Combined with a fast SSD and enough RAM, this CPU just cuts through tasks like they are half as intense as they really are. The part about a fast ssd and enough ram is important though, because this CPU likely is never the limiting factor in any process or game, it destroys its part of most tasks. Paired with a 970 it crushes every game I play at 1080p, probably would go for a 980 or 980ti to maintain 60+ framerates at 1440p or above. This is pretty much the pinnacle of performance as far as 4 core processors go, for now, doesn't seem like Skylake 6000 series processors are too much faster.I could have easily gone for an i5-4690K instead, but my laptop had an i7 and gosh darn it, my badass PC would have hyperthreading as well. Besides, as time goes on, more and more applications will take advantage of the performance boost that hyperthreading offers, and since I intend to use this CPU for probably at the very least 3 years (5 more likely), having that extra capability is worth it to me.So fast! O.O
This processor is overkill for my needs honestly. But works extremely well, stays cool with my corsair h100i, and provides easy overclockability for the future.
Great processor in the 1150 chipset. I didn't realize how big a difference it would make going from an AMD 8350 to this. Games that wouldn't run on the 8350 ran great on this. I thought there was something wrong with Crysis or Mass Effects port to PC. It was that the 8350 wasn't good enough. The memory and gpu being the same or very close the only reason for the huge difference in playability was this chipset. I should have known because I had Crysis running on an older I7 960 with an old 1 gig gpu( really old 5 years old). If you want to game and want something that will probably work well for the next few years this is a good choice. Save your pennies, don't buy AMD, the difference between this and the FX8350 is night and day. I leave OC on auto and use the stock fan, it gets warm buy survives for now, eventually Ill get a 90mm cooler from Noctua.
This is by far the most powerful processor for under $400 and is extremely fast! The stock cooler is trash, so just by a good cooler when you buy this!
Great processor. I got this unlocked one so I could overclock in the future, but even out of the box I haven't gotten it to break a sweat yet. Very high quality.
I bought this a while ago and I still use it to this day. I like that its easy to clean because I have 3 dogs and its get dusty really easily if I don't do it often.
This processor is way over the top for even high end gaming. I am throwing everything I can at it and it will hardly break a sweat. Playing Witcher 3 on full settings this processor hardly goes past 35% usage.
It has exceeded my expectations, I play GTA V on full screen with a msi GTX 970 and i get 60 frames consistently. If I had a better GPU I have no reason to believe I'd have anything but amazing results.
Awesome performance , I had core 2 duo cpu which was bottlenecking my gpu untill I bought z97-a asus motherboard to couple it with my i7-4790.this cpu fixed all my gaming fps issues , I play dota 2 which is giving me 60 fps constantly(which is maximum) without any drops on the highest settings.totally recommend this processor..
