There is no games yet this processor can't handle that I have found. Fallout, Beamng, Forza Horizon 3 all run great and so does video processing, moving files, etc. Great processor for a great price.

I have this clocked at 4.7ghz at 1.25v running stable using the Noctua dh-14. I originally had my old hyper 212 evo with it... This card definitely runs hot. I don't recall exactly, but I do remember that some of my first overclocking attempts at 4.5 or 4.6 ghz with the evo ran it up to 95+C, which I then left decided to leave the default settings be. Paired with a good cooler, this card does have good potential, but if you're not going to spend $60+ on an aircooler to overclock it, you might want to look at a different cpu because this chip runs hot.

It's a VERY good CPU. Upgraded from an FX 8350. I didn't want to go to the new DDR4 platform and spend an extra $100 or more....so this was a great choice. TONS more performance in rendering and gaming applications. Only gripe I had about it was the Amazon packaging...or lack thereof. There was literally NO packing material in the box to secure the CPU and keep it from being rocked around in the box. Luckily it seems there was no damage to the CPU itself.

Bought this as an upgrade to my son's Intel Core i-3. Hope this serves him well in what he wants to do with it.

Built a budget Haswell PC in early 2014 and needed a refresh in 2015 for more demanding PC games and I have been happy ever since. Paired this a used Gaming G1 980ti and been eating fps :)

Great high end CPU.Runs any game on high to ultra setting on a solid fps, and that's with it being bottle necked by my GTX 960. I would recommend 16gb's of RAM (or more) and at least a GTX 1060 to match the performance of the very nice CPU.(It was only after a couple of months of use that I have realised that it has actually turbo'ed itself to 4.3 ghz, with just a slightly above average cooler, great CPU overall. I would 100% reccomend).

Amazing processor for a gen 4 i7. It out performs just about every other processor all the way up to the gen 6 i7's in it's class of quad cores. With a well rounded build you can run a music production studio suite while simultaneously gaming and/or performing other tasks that are considered high-stress for your system. If finding compatible motherboards wasn't an issue, and I were given the option between this processor and some of the newer gen 7's even, I would opt for this same 4790K processor in builds moving forward.

I've had this processor for almost a year and it still just chews up and spits out everything I throw at it. Games, video editing, OBS recording, you name it. Overclocks easily with a decent cooler.PC Specs:CPU: i7-4790k (4.4Ghz)Cooler: Noctua NH-D15 140mm (CPU under load doesn't go over 50C)RAM: 16GB Ballistix Sport DDR3-1600GPU: ROG Strix GTX 1070Case: Fractal Design Define R4 WindowStorage: 1x PNY 120GB SSD and 1TB WD Caviar Blue
