Upgraded from a Haswell i5 4570 (3.2GHz base clock). I paired it with a $90 (read: budget) MSI Z97 PC Mate motherboard, 1TB Samsung Evo 850 SSD and an Cooler Master Evo 212 CPU fan. CRAZY FAST.Stock fan is horribly load at load and temps will get high. So do yourself a favor and grab an aftermarket CPU cooler to go with ANY CPU, overclocked or not. I had this 212 on my old i5 and decided to take it with me to my new i7. I'm overclocked to the turbo frequency 24/7 at 4.4GHz. Temps while browsing, downloading, etc are roughly ~38-40C.I chose this over the non k i7 version because the base and turbo clocks were higher for not all that much more money. And I could decide if I want to overclock or not. Well worth it.

It's not an extreme series, but it ranks right up there for a LGA1150 socket. I have another gaming computer running an i7-6 core extreme LGA2011 system and it is freak'in fast. And side by side (with overclocking on the 4790k), I'm very impressed with the speed (OK, so its a few milliseconds slower - I blinked!). Only through performance testing or multiple programs opened, can you really see the difference. If your planning on gaming and can't afford the extreme series and want to save some money, this is the best bang for the buck. Don't disappoint yourself and get a lower mHz processor. I know you don't want to hear it, but I told you so (Should-A, Could-A, Would-have)!.Comes with a standard fan for normal clocking and installation, or you can add an h100i to overclock it!

Bought this for a new build, and it works like a charm. I did buy a Cool Master Hyper 212 EVO rather than using the included fan, which makes for a better combination.

A killer processor with 8 cores according to my Windows 7 Pro OS - very fast when speed and efficiency is needed. Very pleased with it. Using it for a custom web broadcast system

Found no problems running the latest and greatest games on max setting pairing this with an amd r9 290. The heat sync will deffiently be fine if your an average user but power users and gamers will want a different one.

Installed it in a Hackintosh and worked great. Nice onboard 4600 graphics processor the ARCTIC Freezer i30 Extreme CPU Cooler keeps it nice an cool even under heavy 4K video editing. GeekBench scores single core=3946, multi core=16267
