I have been pretty impressed with this chip. Decent overclocker, nothing special, but I am able to get a very reliable 4.6ghz OC with max temps of around 75 degrees Celsius using synthetic benchmarks. This is with an AIO liquid cooler.

Funnily enough this is still Intel's best mainline i7.The broadwell and skylake chips both don't overclock nearly as well (skylake has better performance per MHz, but that's easily made up by the Haswell Refresh's OC performance and lower price)Getting this to 4.8GHz is pretty damn easy if you have decent cooling, and if you managed a proper delid 5.0GHz is typically a cake walk. (bear in mind their's a chance you'll break your new $300+ cpu by doing this while also voiding the warranty if you try to delid)

Lightening fast processor. Way faster than I needed, but PC is relatively future-proofed now. CPU does get a little warm when pushed, but I have yet to see this processor choke on anything.

Who can complain about this processor. Amazingly fast. Only thing I could see as a setback is the amount of heat it creates. Make sure you have a good heatsink/fan combo with good thermal paste or just liquid cool it. I use a Lepa 240 liquid cooler and it still gets pretty warm. I originally had a corsair single fan liquid cooler that kept my i5-4670 very cool but when swapped out for the i7-4790k I was seeing 80c under load so I decided an upgrade was in order.

This handles all my multitasking with ease. I have thrown so many tasks at it and have yet to slow it down. It makes me wonder if I'll ever be able to use it to its full potential (which is a good thing).

From Fx-8350 to i7-4790k it was a big changei couldn't pull 5Ghz on amd but i did it with the i7 4790kprice was high cause its intel but compared to other sellers i think it was the cheapest (329)
