Was able to overclock to 4900 on an Asus Z97-A with thermaltake extreme 3.0 and Corsair Vengeance Pro 1866 CL9. Limiting factor was the memory not the heat.
Very fast. Even combined with my PCIe SSD, it never reaches 100% utilization under normal use (aka, not bench-marking). I consistently run multiple Ubuntu-based game servers through Hyper-V, and play games on it simultaneously. When combined with SSD's and enough RAM, it makes a great combo client/server processor. I just run it at stock speeds. I feel no need to overclock it for my purposes. Maybe a few years down the road, as it ages, that will become a more important feature. The integrated graphics core is good enough to stream HD video, but I haven't tried much more than that.
For cost and category this cpu simply can't be beaten. I'm able to play Metal Gear Solid 5 on highest settings, chromecast a steaming video, and have visual studio's fired up all simultaneously with room to spare. I was also able to install VS 2015 in a couple minutes instead of 15 or 20 like im use to.- Impressed and happy techy
8 cores running at 4.2 Ghz! (slightly overclocked with a good heatsink) Love it! (Make sure your MoBo can support the latest I7--it may not--or you may need to upgrade our BIOS/UEFI.
