  Pretty incredible CPU, blows through absolutely everything and the overclocking potential is incredible (at least on my unit, this is subject to change due to the fabrication process). Was able to run 4.7GHz with only about 1.26 volts and kept this under 80C, so a great CPU for sure! Especially when it comes to CPU intensive games, this just eats through everything!

  This processor is absolutely fantastic. It runs so quickly that I haven't bothered overclocking it yet after several months. When it comes to gaming, video transcoding and rendering, or compiling code, it just flies.Now, be aware that for most tasks, and even most games, the 4790K is overkill. Most things most people do with their machines don't require 8 logical cores running at 4 GHz. But if you need or want this speed, this is a great CPU.

  Never would go back to AMD, I have been along time AMD user, using AMD for many pcs, from laptops to desktop.I have this processor in a editing and work station build. I have a EVO 212 Hyper cooler installed, and I'm getting good tempswith a mild overclock.Clocked at 4.5GHZ, a little past the normal turbo of 4.4GHZ at 1.180 volts and getting temps around 65-80 at the most usingAida 64 or Intel Burn Test (intel burn test and prime 95 not recommended for Haswell).It's a power house, my pc doesn't even have a GPU and it slices through video editing with no time at all.Video encoding of around 15 minutes for a 2hr long 1080p video. Unzips a 1gb file in less than 10 seconds.My last AMD APU Quad Core could not even play 4K youtube videos, this plays 4K like 480p, little to no challenge.

  Works as advertised, what can I say. Intel delivers. I've overclocked it form 4 GH to 4.75 Ghz and it's perfectly stable. No problems at all. The 4ht genration Haswell chip was worth waiting for and I am very pleased. I am running a CoolerMaster cpu cooler, and could have probably gotten by with the standard intel cooler, even when overclocking. Price and performance were right in the sweet spot in my opinion.

  You're so fast, i love you too, i7-4790k :D But oh how you burn me up when you run so hot! I was getting 95*c temps under load with this processor until i turned the voltage down to 1.20. Then it was around 80 to 85*c. That's still a little too high for my liking.I'd recommend you pair this with an aftermarket cooler, specifically the Corsair Hydro Series H55. I found it to be a very good cooler that dropped my load temps to 45*c, peaking at around 60*c tops!Just don't make the mistake i made and buy this processor, test it, find that it runs hot, go out and get the cooler, and then have to remove the old stock fan. What a pain in the butt. One stop shopping. Get the hyrdo cooler when you get the processor. Good luck!
