I've had this for almost four years. I think I've washed it 2 or 3 times and it still works perfectly. In case it matters to you, the keys are rewardingly clacky. This is probably the best keyboard I've ever had. Even though I paid considerably less ($29.99) than what it's listed for now, I'd still grit my teeth and pay what they're asking if I had to. Apparently I got a wonderful deal.
The I7 works great with my MSI GTX 970 Graphics Card. I haven't had any troubles with any programs when creating projects for my college courses or playing games.
Impressive speed. Use mine for video editing/compressing, gaming, everything. Never had this CPU bottleneck anything I've done.If this CPU becomes your bottleneck then my diagnosis is one of three things: 1) Your workload is intensive enough, in which case you most likely know a thing or two about PCs, and therefore should have known better. 2) You are doing stuff that is beyond the league of a common consumer CPU. 3) You are doing video compression (or similar) just like me and are going to see 100% cpu usage by design. 4) Run a virus scan, because you probably have a virus :)Can't go wrong with this one (for an older generation).
I've already written a review for this on Newegg so I'll keep it short.Pros:4 cores with hyperthreading8 MB cache4.0 GHz base clockGreat potential to overclockRuns cool under a watercoolerCons:Price, still $340 after almost 3 years?Slightly slower than SkylakeThoughts:I upgraded from a 4690k to stream and game simultaneously, I see little to no difference in gaming performance from my 4690k to my 4790k. So if you're only gaming don't waste money on an i7. Also, this chip needs way more voltage to reach 4.8GHz than my i5. The i5 only needed 1.26v, this needs 1.35v. I got lucky with my i5 on the silicon lottery.
This CPU is incredible. CPU core 1.248 V, 4.7 GHz -stable as can be. Cooler Master 212. Max CPU load CPU sits around 130F - 145F depending on room temp. I use this CPU for CFD analysis - disabled Hyper threading and it churns out the iterations even with a 10 million cell count!!! Highly recommend. You will not be disappointed.
I have used this keyboard for 3 years. I washed it two times so far did not get any issue. I wonder what is the material for keycaps IMO these caps are more durable than usual ABS caps.
Got mine from the returned stock via warehouse deals for a bargain price.Clocked at 5GHz without a problem. All I can say is thank you to whoever decided to return a 5GHz 4790k
